In 2024, Tim and I launched the first version of Koalify, our HubSpot Marketplace app designed to simplify deduplication. Today, we’re incredibly proud to have reached the milestone of 1,000 HubSpot Marketplace installs in under a year.
From the very beginning, our main goal has been simplifying HubSpot deduplication.
Even today, this focus sets Koalify apart from other deduplication solutions on the market.
We reached our first milestone of 100 installs in less than three months, you can read more about our start here.
Since then, we’ve 10x-ed our install base by focusing on what works: improving our HubSpot Marketplace listing, collaborating with HubSpot Solution Partners, and sharing high-quality content through LinkedIn.
1) The HubSpot Marketplace
The HubSpot Marketplace has been our primary source of installs, driving about 50% of all new Koalify accounts.
Given its importance, we made sure our marketplace listing stood out.
- We keep our Marketplace Listing up to date to reflect the latest updates and improvements to the product.
- User reviews have been instrumental, our amazing users have left over 30 organic 5-star reviews.
- Certification was another key milestone. Getting Koalify certified by HubSpot not only improved our ranking when users filter apps by relevance but also gave us additional visibility in the ecosystem.
2) HubSpot Solution Partners
Another channel that’s seen consistent growth are installs via HubSpot Solution Partners. What started as <10% of installs in February grew to 25% by November and December. These partnerships have been an excellent way to introduce Koalify to new users and build trust through experts in the HubSpot community.
3) LinkedIn Posts
In April, we shifted from cold outreach to content creation and LinkedIn posts. This shift has paid off, 10% of our installs can now be attributed directly to LinkedIn. Sharing meaningful insights, tips, and features with our network has not only helped me connect with new users but also strengthened existing relationships within the HubSpot Community.
Supporting Channels
These three main channels: the HubSpot Marketplace, Solution Partners, and LinkedIn, make up about 85% of our installs.
The remaining 15% comes from supporting efforts across other the HubSpot community website, the Sprocketeer Slack community, Blogging and Youtube.
HubSpot Community Website
The HubSpot Community has been a fantastic source of engagement. Community Champions now organically recommend Koalify as their go-to solution for deduplication, not because we asked them to, but because they genuinely believe in the product.
Sprocketeer Slack Community
The Sprocketeer Slack Community has been a goldmine for conversations and connections. With over 2,500 members, it’s a smaller, more active space where I’ve had meaningful discussions that have led to at least 10 installs.
If you’re still reading, you’re probably a great fit for the community, send me a LinkedIn DM to get an invite link!
Blogging
Some ideas are better suited to longer-form content, which is why we’ve started blogging on our website.
These posts not only help the HubSpot community but also contribute to SEO over the long term.
YouTube
In April, I began sharing video tutorials as part of our knowledge base.
These videos have already been viewed over 800 times, which is a solid start for this channel.
Key Takeaway
If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey, it’s this:
the channel matters less than the value you create for your customers.
Whether it’s through your product, your user experience, or your content, the goal should always be to solve real problems for your audience.
In 2025, our focus will be on creating even better content.
We’ll continue to use our existing channels while experimenting with new platforms like Reddit and Twitter!
Hope this helps!
